Nsawam, Jan. 6, GNA - The Akuapem South Municipal Assembly is to set= up a task force among other measures to revamp its revenue collection effort= s in order to speed up developments.
Dr Godfried Osei Bonsu Twum, the Municipal Chief Executive, who announced this at the weekend, said the task force's work would mainly target revenues from development levy and property rates. He said this at the first ordinary meeting of the assembly at Nsawam= .. Dr Twum said revenue targets for collectors would be set with their activities and performances closely monitored. He said logistics would be provided to collectors to facilitate thei= r smooth operation. Dr Twum said even though the year 2009 was a good year for the Assem= bly it would not rest on its oars.
On the National Health Insurance Scheme, Dr Twum said, the scheme registered 91,141 persons out of 120,000 applicants as at the end of Augu= st last year. He appealed to assembly members in the municipality to step up their=
education on the scheme in their electoral areas.
Dr Twum announced that under the HIV/AIDS, the Ghana AIDS Commission=
had released GH¢100,000 for the prevention, behavioural change and communication on the disease in the Akuapem South Municipality.
