He said the team noted with concern the large number of patients present at the infirmary with very little drugs to treat them. The Director said most of the sick inmates who were referred to the Government Hospital were as result of inadequate drugs at the infirmary to treat them.
He said they join and remain in a queue for long hours at the District Hospital, adding that their long stay was a threat to security at the prisons.
Dr. Gyakobo said to ensure efficiency in the security network of the prisons, there was the need to adequately stock the pharmacy of the infirmary to facilitate treatment of sick inmates within the prisons yard.
Mr Edward Kofi Baniba, Eastern Regional Commander of Prisons, who received the items expressed his appreciation for the effort put in by the medical team to procure the drugs for the infirmary.
