President Nana Akufo-Addo has said that he will instruct the Education Ministry to address challenges at the Amedzofe College of Education and the Technical and Vocational Training School at Alavanyo which he said were key to developing teachers and technical experts.
He said he has received the numerous calls for support for the institutions and was positive that an upgrade of the facilities will help to build the self-confident and prosperous Ghana that is desired.
“I hear you loud and clear about the sad state of the Amedzofe College of Education and the Technical and Vocational Training School at Alavanyo. You touched a nerve close to my heart when you talked about training of teachers and technical and vocational training. Those are the areas that require urgent attention. I promise I shall alert the Minister of Education and urge him to put Amedzofe and Alavanyo on his to-do list,” he assured.
Mr Akufo-Addo who was speaking on Thursday, August 24 at the 8th Biennial General Assembly of the EP Church of Ghana currently underway at Legon in Accra, urged leaders of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church to turn their attention towards early childhood education in Ghana.
The president quoted Aristotle, saying, “Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man,” to stress on the need to identify and develop talents at a tender age for better gains when they grow up.
