Akuse female inmates receive donations

The ritual of celebrating birthdays with the poor and needy in society seems to have come to stay.

To the celebrants, extending a helping hand to these needy in society are their own ways of contributing to society.

Mostly, celebrities and very wealthy people were those who normally embarked on such activities, but in recent times, the trend has changed.

People from all works of life including students have joined in this bandwagon.

Priscilla Tandoh, a NABCO personnel in the Aowin District in the Western North Region has also joined the craze.

The young lady who marked her 28th birthday on February 2 also made it her mandate to share the little the Almighty God blessed her with some female prison inmates in at Akuse in the Eastern Region.

The items donated included birthday cake, bags of rice, detergents, soft drinks, toiletries, packs of sanitary pad, carbolic soaps, among other products.

Presenting the items, Priscilla said that the donation was to show love, give hope to the inmates and help relieve them of insufficient logistics that they had.

She also said that the gesture was in line with Jesus' demand on Christians to give to the poor, visit the sick and prisoners among others as recorded in Matthew 25:36.

She urged the inmates not to be demoralized about their situation but have faith in God, renew their commitment and trust in Him.

DSP Juliana Anlonya, Second-In-Command, Akuse Female Prison, who received the items on behalf of the inmates, expressed gratitude to Priscilla and her team for their kind gesture towards the inmates and called on other benevolent individuals to come to their aid to help reform the inmates to contribute to national development.
