Nana Yaa Anamah II, Queen mother of Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirem District in the Eastern Region has been identified as the longest-serving queen mother of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area.
A research conducted by the office of Her Royal Majesty, Nana Adutwumwaa Dokua, Okyehemaa of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area has revealed that Nana Yaa Anamah II has been the queen mother of Akyem Asuom for the past 75 years.
In a press statement, the Okyehemaa said, it is rare for a queen mother to use her whole life in serving his people.
In consultation with the Chiefs and People of Asuom, a Grand Durbar has been scheduled to be organized on Saturday, 28th October 2017 at Asuom to honour the over 100 years old Nana Yaa Anamah for her dedication and service to humanity.
The Grand Durbar is expected to be graced by H.E. Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana and his wife, Her Excellency, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo Addo, former President, H.E. Jerry John Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, His Royal Majesty, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, Okyehene, Her Royal Majesty, Nana Adutwumwaa Dokua, Okyehemaa and all Queen mothers of Akyem Abuakwa, Osabarima Ofosuhene Apenteng II, Asuomhene, Ministers, Members of Parliament and all chiefs and people of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area.
The celebration of the Asuom Queen mother is under the theme: “Celebrating a Traditional Leadership of Excellence, the Role of Women in modern Chieftancy” and the program seeks to render gratitude to God and celebrate the achievements of Nana Yaa Anamah II for serving her subjects 75 years and still counting.
