Ibrahim Halidu, the Assembly Member for the Alajo North Electoral Area in the Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly (ACMA) in the Greater Accra Region, was officially called to the Ghana Bar on Friday, May 31, 2024.

In an interview with GhanaWeb, Halidu described this achievement as a significant milestone in his life and the fulfilment of his long-held aspiration to serve justice and uphold the rule of law. He acknowledged that the journey had not been easy, involving six years of hard work, dedication, and countless nights of burning the midnight oil, combined with fulfilling his passion for community work. He expressed gratitude to God for guiding him through this challenging journey.

The event took place at the 'Call to the Bar' ceremony, held at the Accra International Conference Centre and organized by the General Legal Council. This special meeting of the council, which oversees legal education in Ghana, was attended by its distinguished members, including the Chief Justice, Justices of the superior courts of judicature, the Director of Legal Education at the Ghana School of Law, the Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, and Deans of various law faculties.

Her Ladyship the Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, presided over the ceremony, which welcomed the enrollment of one hundred and eighty-two lawyers (182) who had met the required standards of legal proficiency and practical experience.

The Chief Justice, while congratulating the new lawyers and their families, emphasized the importance of responsibility and ethical practice in the legal profession.
