Volta Regional members of the campaign team of Alan Kyerematen were, on Tuesday, June 10, hosted to a party by the Volta Regional Minister, Helen Adjoa Ntoso, at her Residency, according to credible information available to the paper.
The “get together” which took place at the Residency, located close to Woezor Hotel in Ho, saw scores of ‘hardcore’ Alan Kyerematen campaign team members throng the residency to, in their words, “have fun.”
The Volta Regional Minister is said to be a very close pal of Mr. Alan Kyerematen, with their friendship dating back to her days as a staff at the national headquarters of the National Disaster and Management Organisation (NADMO), both under the Kufuor and Mills governments.
Members of the Ho constituency of the National Democratic Congress, who were present at the function and spoke to the paper on condition of anonymity, told the paper that they were “shocked by the open and flirtatious nature of the visit of their opponents to the residency of the a sitting regional minister who was appointed by the NDC.”
“We were shocked when these guys, who are openly NPP members and known to support Alan Kyerematen and are a part of his team, came in to the residency. We initially thought Helen was throwing the party for us. But we were shocked to learn that we were not the guests for which this party was organised,” an NDC source at the party told our reporter.
Visibly upset by this development NDC members, contacted by the paper, have expressed open disgust at this development.
“Why won’t our party take care of us, but seem to be interested in the contest of the NPP and making sure Alan wins? It is clear to some of us that our leaders in the region will rather want to spend money on Alan than give the money to some of us who are suffering and cannot take care of our families. We will advise ourselves in 2016, we assure them. We will not be taken for fools any longer,” the source further added.
The leader of the Alan delegation is one Louis who is actively known in the town as being an NPP member. Louis who is known as a “boy” of former NPP regional chairman, Kenwuud Nuworsu, confirmed this story to our reporter, explaining that he found nothing wrong with his campaign members being “hosted by a friend to our boss.”
“Nothing sinister should be read into this development. We are just friends having fun, and this is good for national cohesion. We are not enemies,” Louis added.
This seems to be, so far, the only concrete evidence adduced to back the many claims of NDC support for the campaign Mr. Alan Kyerematen who is gunning to unseat Nana Akufo-Addo, the 2008 and 2012 Presidential Candidate of the NPP.
Unsubstantiated allegations have also been levelled against the brother of the President, Ibrahim Mahama, who is said to have stated at different places that he will “determine who the next flagbearer of the NPP will be.”
