Mon, 5 Mar 2012 Source: --

The embattled businessman Alfred Woyome was mobbed over the weekend when he stormed the Volta Region of Ghana to grace a funeral ceremony.

An unannounced visit later became the major event of the Hohoe Township when hundreds of residents besieged the funeral grounds to catch a glimpse of the man who has made headlines over the past months in Ghana.

Below is a full statement from his communications team:

On behalf of Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome, we issue this note of appreciation to the chief’s and people of Hohoe and its surrounding areas for their overwhelming show of love for Mr. Alfred Woyome when he paid an unannounced visit to attend a funeral at Hohoe over the weekend.

What was supposed to be a quiet trip to support his wife in the funeral and burial ceremony of her aunt, turned into a celebration and jubilation on his first visit after the ordeal he went through. The townsfolk and numerous Voltarians who turned up on hearing that Mr. Woyome was at the funeral, insisted that he share a few words.

The fact that Mr. Woyome’s car was mobbed and could not move an inch for a long period of time is testimony to the undying love and belief that the people of Hohoe and its surrounding areas have for this illustrious son of the Voltaland.

Mr. Woyome expressed his heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the people of Hohoe and its surrounding areas and to assure them of his innocence in the ongoing judgment debt saga. Mr. Woyome was emphatic that the truth concerning this matter would become known to all Ghanaians in due course during the hearings at the courts and that he would be vindicated, in the long run by the grace of god.

Mr. Woyome took the opportunity to encourage the gathering to make it a point to continue to accord the founder of the national democratic congress [NDC], former President Jerry John Rawlings, his due respect and recognition and that, by so doing, they would be giving the NDC a brighter chance of winning the upcoming 2012 elections.

In view of the foregoing, it is only proper that we issue this public note of appreciation on behalf of Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome as we wish the people of Hohoe, in particular, and all well-wishers of Mr. Woyome the very best in all their future endeavors.

Thank you and God bless you all for your attention.
