The 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Wulensi Constituency, Alhaji Haruna Abdulai, has vowed to reclaim the seat for the party.
The NPP’s Thomas Donkor Ogajah in 2020 lost the seat to NDC’s Dawuni Abukari after polling 19,148 votes representing 48.25% against the victor who polled 20,148 votes representing 50.77%.
Alhaji Haruna Abdulai who before the 2020 polls contested in the NPP Parliamentary Primary and lost to the then incumbent MP, Thomas Donkor Ogajah, initiated reconciliation efforts after some of his supporters fell out with the party over his loss.
He staged a comeback and won the primaries to represent the party in 2024
He has since reiterated that he is confident that the good people of the Wulensi constituency will vote massively for him and the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
“Looking at the way the young people of the constituency are relentlessly registering for the upcoming elections is unprecedented, and I know that they will all be voting for the NPP. I am optimistic about snatching the seat we lost in 2020 for the party in 2024”, he told the media.
After a tour of some of the registration centres, he thanked the party’s leadership in the constituency for their efforts and enthusiasm demonstrated during the registration.
“The enthusiasm of the party’s leadership demonstrated during the registration exercise is a sign of victory for all of us”, he disclosed
He added that the Electoral Commission should also be commended for the smooth process of registration so far and urged his party members not to be provoked by propaganda from its opponents to anything untoward that could destabilize the peace of the constituency.
