All three Sissala West NPP Parliamentary aspirants confident of Victory

All the three Parliamentary aspirants vying to represent the Sisssla West on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have proclaimed victory ahead of the primary on Saturday.

A total of 378 delegates of the NPP will on Saturday vote to elect a parliamentary candidate in the Sissala West constituency, which is being contested by three persons including the incumbent MP.

The three are, Mr Salifu Naliwie Baluwie, a former District Chief Executive for the Sissala West District, Mr Patrick Alhassan Adama, incumbent MP and Mr Luri Tia John Bosco, the Upper West Regional Youth Organizer of the NPP.

Speaking in separate interviews with the GNA in Gwolu, all candidates expressed hope of winning the primary and gave assurances of retaining the seat for the party.

Mr Baluwie, noted that he had served before as DCE and that there were legacies he had left, which when given the nod, he would win the main elections in December to continue the development agenda of the NPP.

He called for peace and unity of a purpose after the primary to ensure that NPP retained the seat it won for the first time in 2016.

Mr Patrick Alhassan Adama, the incumbent MP said nothing could block his way in his quest to return to parliament in 2021 since he had done a lot for the constituency.

"I have done a lot for the constituency and I think the delegates will still compensate me for being able to win the seat for the NPP for the first time. God willing, I will emerge victorious and I will surely retain the seat in December", he said.

Mr Luri Tia John Bosco, the Regional Youth Organiser said he had served the party well both the constituency and regional level, which puts him above the others.

He said he had also toured the entire region as a regional executive member of the party and knows the problems of the area more than the other competitors, which will help him to win the primary.

It is worthy to note that the NPP before the 2016 elections had no single seat in the Upper West Region but went ahead to win five out of the 11 seats in the region.

Their ability to maintain all five seats or more will not only be based on the general performance of the party in government but also the caliber of candidates that would be chosen to lead the party into the Parliamentary elections this 2020.
