Mampong (Ash), Feb 27, GNA - The reconstituted 13-member board of governors for the Amaniampong Secondary School at Asante-Mampong was on Tuesday inaugurated to serve.
The board, which will serve a three-year term, is under the chairmanship of Mr Joseph Yaw Adjei, Principal Inspector of Taxes at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
In a speech read for him, Mr A. Kofi Britwum, Ashanti Regional Director of Education, appealed to the Board members to acquaint themselves with the objectives of the education reform programme to enable them to work efficiently.
He also requested the members to operate within Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service Constitution for board of governors in order to prevent conflict of interest among them and school authorities.
Mr Britwum urged the Board to put in place measure to entice more teachers to the school to enhance teaching and learning. He commended the old board of governors for their good work and urged the new board to follow the example.
Mr Isaac Kwaku Duku, the Headmaster of the school, appealed to the new board to help solve the accommodation problem facing students. He said the students had demonstrated high sense of discipline and expressed the hope that it would enable them improve their academic performance.
