Manso-Nkwanta (Ash), April 23, GNA- The Amansie West District Directorate of Health Services in the Ashanti Region, recorded 34 cases of Tuberculosis in 2007 out of which 32 people were treated and two people died.
Mr. Joseph Adomako, the District Director of Health Services, announced this at this year's World Tuberculosis Day Celebration at Manso-Nkwanta. He reminded the public that the treatment of the disease was free and asked infected persons to attend health facilities for medical treatment.
Mr Adomako said the District Directorate of Health Services had in stock adequate drugs for the treatment of the disease. Mr Benjamin Kwakye Adeefe, the District Chief Executive, commended the UN Millennium Village Project for assisting communities in Bonsaaso cluster area to improve health, education and agriculture.
He said the assembly would provide portable water and other facilities in the district to improve the people's living conditions. Dr. Homiah Mensah, Science Co-ordinator of the Project, said the scheme aimed among others at reducing poverty among the people. He urged them to corporate with authorities of the project to ensure its successful implementation.
Dr Mensah announced that as part of the project, water, telecommunication, staff quarters and other facilities would be provided in the Bonsaaso cluster area.
