The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amenfi Central, Peter Amponsah, and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, have received widespread praise from the Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government and Rural Development for their collaborative efforts in addressing the long-standing water challenges faced by communities in Amenfi Central.
The commendation came during a recent session where Peter Amponsah appeared before the committee for the consideration of Annual Audit Statements of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
The meeting, however, quickly turned to a pressing local issue as Committee Chairperson Queenstar Sawyer, along with other members, highlighted the persistent water scarcity plaguing communities within Amenfi Central.
In a highly anticipated response, Peter Amponsah revealed a significant breakthrough: approximately 60 boreholes have already been provided across the district to ease the burden on residents.
He explicitly credited the instrumental support and collaboration of the area's MP, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, for this crucial achievement.
This revelation was met with immediate and warm reactions from the Parliamentary Committee. Chairperson Queenstar Sawyer, visibly impressed, lauded Joana Gyan Cudjoe as "a truly dedicated and hardworking woman," unable to hide her admiration for the MP's commitment.
Her sentiments were swiftly echoed by other committee members, who collectively applauded both the MP and the DCE for their "industriousness and teamwork" in addressing such a vital community need.
For countless families in Amenfi Central, these boreholes transcend mere water sources; they symbolize hope and offer profound relief from years of arduous water fetching.
The initiative is expected to dramatically reduce the daily stress, especially for women and children who traditionally bear the brunt of this task, freeing up their time for education and other productive activities.
Residents, buoyed by this successful collaboration, express strong optimism that the exemplary teamwork between their leaders will pave the way for numerous future development projects, fostering sustained growth and improved living conditions across the district.
The provision of these boreholes stands as a testament to effective local governance and inter-party cooperation aimed at directly impacting the lives of ordinary citizens.
