Accra, Oct.4, GNA - The Anarhor Weku Kpee clan of the La Traditional Area on Saturday launched its 50th anniversary celebration in support of the building of a palace at La Jarano in Accra. Mr Torto Laryea, a member of the clan, who launched the anniversary, noted that the role of traditional leaders in development was indispensable and appealed to the clan members and philanthropists to donate towards the project. He also requested the elders and people to initiate other development projects to serve as a foundation for the progress of the future generation.
Mrs. Diana Amartefio, a member of the clan, urged the people to ensure peace, love and unity towards the development of the area. She said: "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" and appealed to the people to ensure sound hygienic practices to prevent the outbreak of cholera and other diseases. Ms. Amartefio advised the youth to take education seriously to enable them to acquire skills and qualifications needed for national reconstruction.
Mr. Gans-Lartey, Assembly member for New Matiase and a member of the Anarhor clan, asked the seven clans of the La Traditional Area to form a sanitation committee to ensure environmental cleanliness. "All the clans should set aside a day that would be used as a day for cleaning the area," he said.
