Anfoega Dzana honours 43 citizens

Anfoega-Dzana(V/R), April 18, GNA - The Chiefs and people of Anfoega-Dzana in the Kpando District on Easter Monday honoured Mr Emmanuel Yao Owusu, a businessman and 42 other citizens of the town for their contributions towards promoting development and peace in the community.

Mr Owusu who is the Chairman of the Dzana Nenyo Committee single-handedly provided streetlights in the town at a cost of 10 million cedis in addition to eight million cedis worth of school uniforms for 85 pupils of the local kindergarten. Mr Owusu and Mr John Amakpa also a businessman jointly financed an extension to the palace of the Paramount Chief of Anfoega Traditional area.

Mr Stephen Krampa a businessman was also honoured for providing a transformer towards electrification project in the community. All 25 members of the Dzana Nenyo Committee and 15 members of the Sreme Nyigbe Committee were also honoured for their dedication to duty. Each of them received a certificate of recognition.

Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, Paramount Chief of Anfoega Traditional Area speaking at a durbar to honour the citizens and raise funds towards rebuilding the local kindergarten school, commended the recipients for their dedication to the development of the traditional area. He expressed appreciation to the people who had become ambassadors of peace and development and placed their expertise and financial resources at the disposal of the traditional area.

Togbe Hodo however, cautioned that development was based on time and unless the citizenry valued time not much could be achieved both individually and collectively.

Mr Owusu appealed to the citizens to join hands with their leaders in a collective effort to develop the community and the traditional area. He said there was much to be done to improve living standards in the community therefore; everyone's contribution no matter how small or big was essential to their collective effort.

Mr Owusu said the development challenges facing the community were numerous and included provision of place of convenience in each of the four clans estimated at 400 million cedis, and a kindergarten at 300 million cedis.

About 15 million cedis was realised during appeal for funds at the durbar towards the projects.

In another development members of the Dzana Nenyo Committee presented a mower worth three million cedis and three million cedis cash to the management of Anfoega Catholic Hospital.
