Animators of women empowerment urged to educate people on gender related laws.

The Country Director of Hunger Project Ghana, Dr. Naana Agyeman-Mensah, has called on Animators of the Women Empowerment Project (WEP) to educate parents, chiefs, and people in their communities on gender related laws to ensure their implementation to enhance gender equality.

She mentioned some of those laws as the Children’s Act, Marriage Laws, Domestic Violence Act, the Wills Act, the Intestate Succession law and Women in Leadership law.

Dr. Agyeman-Mensah made the call at the closing ceremony of a four-day Review Worship held at Wawase in the Kwahu West Municipality for 25 Animators drawn from seven Districts in the Eastern Region.

It was aimed at enhancing their education and sensitization on gender related laws.

She said the project was initially meant for women but their male counterparts had been included to ensure its effective implementation for the benefit of the entire society.

The Country Director said since the inception of the WEP programme, 322 female and 91 male had reached out to 203,019 people including 84,850 male and 118,169 female in communities in the region.**
