Ankobra West Rural Bank donates to Ellembelle Health Directorate

Ankobra West Rural Bank Limited in the Western Region as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSP) to stem the spread of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic, has donated some Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the Ellembelle District Health Directorate.

The items donated include; nose masks, hand gloves, antiseptic, hand tissues, alcoholic-based hand sanitizers, Veronica buckets among others.

Speaking to Daniel Kaku after the presentation at the premises of the Bank's headquarters at Esiama, the General Manager, Mr. Kweku Yankson, reiterated that Coronavirus is real hence their decision to contribute to the fight against the virus in the community.

He disclosed that they had stationed Veronica buckets at the vantage points at the banking hall, adding that they had also shared nose masks to their customers and staff to protect themselves from contracting and spreading the virus.

Advice

Mr. Kweku Yankson, therefore, seized the opportunity to urged people in Ellembelle District and beyond to always wash their hands with soap under running water as instructed by the Ghana Health Service and World Health Organization (WHO).

He also emphasized and advised the good people of Ellembelle to follow all the directives that have been put in place by the Ellembelle District Health Service and the Assembly as a matter of possible.

"I will call on the residents of Ellembelle District to wash their hands always under running water with soap and also follow the directives outlined by the Ellembelle District Health Service. We will continue to support our costumers and others", he said.

On his part, Ellembelle District Health Director, Dr. Augustine Amoako, gave thanks to Ankobra West Rural Bank Limited for their donation in helping the fight against the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

He, therefore, called on other benevolent organizations to donate Personal Protective Equipment to support the Health Directorate.

Talking about the measures put in place to contain the spread of the virus, Dr. Augustine Amoako said the Ellembelle District Public Health Emergency Committee has reduced the congestion in various market centers in the district and also directed drivers to reduce their passengers to ensure social distancing protocol.

He also advised the residents to follow the directives and stop the stigmatization and the spread of fear and panic in the area.



Dr. Amoako took the opportunity to confirm that indeed the Ellembelle District had recorded two positive cases of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

"As I am speaking to you now, Ellembelle District we have recorded two confirmed cases and let us all speak against the stigmatization that is associated with the two cases", he concluded.

The Western Region COVID-19 case count soared to 38 as at Friday, May 8, 2020.
