Residents of Ankyease in the Asuogyaman District have expressed their gratitude to the government for the extension of electricity and good drinking water to the community.
They gave the commendation when the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Victor Smith, visited the community as part of his tour of the district.
Togbe Dzamadu, Chief of the community, said they were very grateful that a village of about 30 mud houses could get electricity and good drinking water.
He said the youth of the community were now having sources of entertainment and were able to see what was going on all over the world like their counterparts in the urban areas since some of them were now using DSTV and Multi TV in their homes.
Togbe Dzamadu mentioned that the extension of electricity and water to the community would also be a source of employment for the youth since most of them were planning to buy refrigerators to start ice water and sachet water business.
He asked for God’s blessing for the government and prayed that the Good Lord will give the soul of the late President Mills a perfect resting place.
The chief gave the assurance that they would do their possible best to help the government by discharging their duties as good citizens.
He also pledged their total support to let the government retain power in the December polls.
Mr. Smith used the opportunity to thank the chiefs and the people for mourning the late President Mills.
He appealed to them to vote for the government in the forthcoming general election for it to continue the good works it had already started. Mr. Smith said what the government had done for them was only the beginning of the Better Ghana Agenda.
