Chiefs of the Anlo state last week took a giant stride in their efforts at preparing the way for the eventual installment of a new Awomefia or king of the Anlos.

They are, as a result, preparing feverishly to set in motion vital structures at the Awomefia Secretariat and central stool house, which they consider to be the engine and platform of growth for the people of the area.

At a Fiagawo meeting held at the secretariat at Anloga last Saturday in which 16 paramount chiefs and representatives of many traditional areas were in attendance, the rulers agreed on the formation of a standing committee, which will in turn pave the way for the traditional council to run the state until the installment of a new king.

The chiefs brainstormed on how to open up the state for economic growth and improve the living standards of the people.

Thanking the chiefs for their co-operation and support after the meeting, Torgbui Sri LII, regent of the Awomefia Stool, said having a fragmented traditional council would not auger well for progress in the area, and called on all sons and daughters of the area to contribute their quota to bring out the glory the land is known for.

The regent said that all other tribes are advancing and making progress because they are united, and reminded them that, with unity, they canLater in an interview with the Chronicle Torgbui Sri appealed to all Anlo citizens to rally behind what he referred to as "the positive course" being followed to bring investors to the area.

In another interview, the Fiaga of Klikor, Torgbui Addo VIII, who chaired the meeting told the paper that leadership is of prime importance in every community, and so he was glad that the current regent had been found to take up the mantle of leadership. He said no matter how daring a platoon may be in battles, there is always the need for a platoon leader to maintain order and inspire the troops to total victory.

Torgbui Addo was hopeful that the crowning of a new Anlo king is just around the corner, and assured that the chiefs are throwing their weight behind the elders to make the dream come true.

He praised the visionary Torgbui Sri, especially in his untiring efforts at uniting the chiefs and bringing development to the kingdom, and said the regent would get the unflinching support of divisional and sub chiefs to move the state forward.

On his part, Torgbui Duklui Attipoe V of Anyako traditional area called on all citizens of the state to cling around on-going efforts and was sure that results would be achieved soon.

Other traditional areas represented at the meeting included Xevi, Apipe, Dzodze, Ave Afiadenyigba, Weta, Penyi, Ave Havi, Ative, Ave Afiagbo, and Avenor. The formation of the standing committee is slated for early this month.
