Takoradi Jan.12, GNA- The Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Office of the Veterinary Services has vaccinated a total of 1,595 animals during a month-long anti-rabies campaign.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, in Takoradi on Wednesday, Dr Anthony Osei-Tutu, Veterinary Officer in-charge of the Metropolis, said 1,450 dogs, 143 cats and two monkeys were covered by the exercise.
He said the essence of the vaccination campaign was to draw the attention of the public to the dangers of the disease that has no cure. Dr Osei-Tutu said the disease could either be transmitted through an infected animal or human being through a bite or other contacts. He advised the public to report any suspected case of rabies to the Service.
