Antoa (Ash), March 16, GNA - Nana Kwame Owusu-Agyeman, Antoahene on Friday, inaugurated a modern aqua-privy lavatory at Antoa in the Kwabre District built at a cost of GH¢80,000.
The facility sponsored by the chief has a separate 24 tiled chambers with four hand washing sinks and an office for the keeper of the facility for the adults and 12 seats for children. Inaugurating it, Nana Owusu-Agyeman thanked the youth and the elders for their loyalty and stressed that he was prepared to do more to enhance the systematic development of the town. The chief, who has already provided two mechanized boreholes totalling GH¢300,000 for the community and constructed 180-metre street drains at a cost of GH¢18,000, appealed to the people to refrain from anti-social activities that would retard the development initiatives in the area.
He had already started constructing a three-storey building which comprised classrooms, computer and science laboratories as well as teachers' common rooms for the basic schools in the town. The ground floor has been completed and is being used as dining hall, kitchen and classrooms for the kindergarten with two 21-inch Television sets provided in the rooms for use by the children. Nana Owusu-Agyeman said he was ready for real development in the area and would build separate teachers' bungalows after the completion of the storey building.
He called on the youth to continue to offer their support through communal labour. Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, Asokore-Mamponghene commended the Antoahene for his effort for the town stressing that every community needed development-oriented chiefs like him. Professor Mrs Esi Awuah, a lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, urged the people to observe environmental and proper personal hygiene as well as take proper care of the facilities.
