Anum-Apapam completes 90 million cedis market project

Anum-Apapam (E/R) Aug. 14, GNA - The people of Anum-Apapam in the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District have completed the construction of a 90 million-cedi market project, which is now ready for use. The District Assembly provided 20 per cent of the funding of the 24 stalls and rest was funded by the people of the area through market and special levies. Mr. Foster Doku the Assembly member of the area, speaking to GNA at Anum-Apapam said the 24 stalls constituted the first Phase of the market project.

He said work which is expected to begin on the 2nd phase next year would include, 14 stores, 30 additional stalls, kindergarten, urinal and a parking space for vehicles. Mr. Doku, who admitted that the 2nd phase would involve a lot of funds appealed to citizens home and abroad and charitable organisation to come to their aid.

He said apart from the market project the people have also launched an electrification programme to enable them to mobilise funds to procure both high and low tension poles to connect the area to the national grid. Mr. Doku said Anum-Apapam is the leading producer of cocoa and plantain in the District but lacked infrastructural amenities that could improve the lot of the people in the area. Aug. 14 05
