Aowin Municipal Assembly trains 757 teachers on new curriculum

The Municipal Directorate of Education of Aowin Municipal Assembly in the Western North Region has trained 757 teachers on the new curriculum which will come into use next academic year come September 2019.

The new curriculum is made up of subjects such as History, Creative Art, Physical Education, Our World Our People, Science, Mathematics, Computing, Ghanaian Language, English Language and Religious and Moral Education.

Addressing participants at the opening of the seminar, the Municipal Chief Executive for Aowin, Mr. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi said, our education system in Ghana has been undergoing engineering from time to time, to meet international standards.

"The changes will continue as the country is developing", he said.

The MCE advised the participants to embrace the new curriculum and share the knowledge they wil be acquiring with their colleague teachers and impact into the pupils they teach when the academic year begins come September.

Mr. Adu-Gyamfi absorbed the over 7,500 Ghana cedis cost of certificate which will be issued to the participants at the end of the seminar.

The Municipal Director of Education for Aowin, Mr. Sebastian Diaw said the new curriculum was moving from objective to standard based curriculum and is structured into strands, sub-strands, content strands, indicators and exemplars.

Mr Diaw said, despite the challenges on feeding and training materials, the Municipal Directorate of Education under his stewardship would make sure the training comes to a successful end.

He, therefore, seized the opportunity to appeal to the participants to collaborate with resource persons for the week-long training program.
