Apam Dentsi Asafo Company celebrates golden jubilee of shrine

Gomoa West District Chief Executive, Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, has appealed to Ghanaians to regard the biometric registration exercise as a national assignment and not as an exercise for any political party.

“It is by so doing that we can ensure its success,” Mr Aidoo-Mensah said when addressing a durbar to climax the Golden Jubilee celebration of the construction of Asafo Dentsifo Shrine at Apam.

He expressed concern about confusion being created by some supporters of National Democratic Party (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at some registration centres and appealed to them “to cease fire” and cooperate with the officials of the Electoral Commission to make the exercise a success.

“Let us do away with the NDC and NPP syndrome in the registration exercise, as no one knows which party a person registering will vote for,” Mr Aidoo-Mensah said.

He appealed to religious bodies, asafo companies, market women and heads of departments to educate their members on the importance of the registration exercise and the need for them to get involved.

Mr Aidoo-Mensah cautioned against multiple registration saying “you would be found out, prosecuted and jailed.”

The DCE appealed to the citizens of Apam to revive the celebration of Easter which the town was famous for by introducing activities which could attract visitors to the town during the festivity.

He said the District Assembly would be prepared to support such activities.**
