Apam, April 12, GNA - The Apam Town Council has raised about 10 million cedis through fund-raising activities to assist the town in its development efforts Mr George Koomson, Chairman of the Council announced on Monday.

He said a seven-member committee had been put in place to manage an Education Endowment Fund set up a year ago, which had so far yielded 10 million cedis.

Mr Koomson commended a citizen of the town and a staff of the District Education Office, Dr Theophilus Koomson, for pledging 50,000 cedis a month from his salary towards the town's development, and called on other citizens to emulate his shining example.

Madam Joyce Aidoo, Gomoa District Chief Executive (DCE), urged the people to reconcile with one another, do away with negative tendencies, and to live in unity, peace and love.

This, she said, would bring about sustainable development in the District.

She urged chiefs, opinion leaders and well-to-do citizens to put the past behind them and open a new page, so that collectively, they could help build Apam to befit its status as a district capital. The DCE pointed out: "Nobody will come and develop Apam for us, its development depends on us."
