Mpraeso-Kwahu, May 26, GNA - Mr Samson Frempong, Assemblyman for Abene electoral area in the Kwahu South District, has appealed to Ghana Education Service(GES) to post teachers to the District Assembly's Primary School at Ata-ne-Ata that was closed down last September following an attack on the community by Fulani herdsmen.

He said the teachers fled the village during the attack and had not returned, adding "Continued closure of the school is depriving several school children from being educated over the last nine months." Mr Frempong who made the appeal at Mpraeso-Kwahu on Thursday, urged the Kwahu South District Directorate of Education to take immediate steps to re-open the school next academic year. He also appealed to the assembly and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for assistance to the people who were attacked and their farms destroyed.

When GNA contacted Mr James Nii Okaidja Dinsey, Kwahu South District Director of Education, he said the teachers who fled the village with other inhabitants were posted to other schools. He promised to visit the village to assess the situation before a decision would be taken to post teachers to the school.
