Armed Forces Recruitment Excercise Begins In Sunyani

Space FM, Sunyani, 24 July - Over 1,000 young men and women on Tuesday stormed the Sunyani Coronation Park hoping to be recruited into the Ghana Armed Forces.

As early as 5:00AM, the park was full of expectant applicants short-listed for the Army, Navy and Air force with others lined up infront of the the main entrance to the park. Some shortlisted applicants were accompanied by their relatives and friends.

Captain Mezo told Space FM that short-listed applicants would be taken through body selection, basic medical screening, verification of certificates, ages, heights and general fitness. He could not immediately say exactly how many shortlisted applicants were present when Spacenews got there.

He said successful applicants would further go through an aptitude test after which the final list would be known by Friday. When Space FM spoke to some of the applicants, they expressed the hope that they would be recruited. There were others who were there but had not actually been short listed but were hoping for divine intervention to see them through.
