Armed police personnel deployed to Half-Assini to protect life and property, have been withdrawn, following absolute peace that had returned to the town.
The Jomoro District Police Commander, Superintendent John Furguson Dzineku, who made this known to Ghana New Agency at Half-Assini, said some constituency executives of the NDC in the area who were at loggerheads with the Jomoro district chief executive, have assured the District Security Committee (DISEC) that no demonstration has been planned to force the DCE out of office.
He said this necessitated the complete withdrawal of the police personnel deployed by the Western Regional Police Command in Sekondi to Half Assini.
According to Supt Dzineku, some Jomoro Constituency Executives of the NDC last week threatened to force the DCE Mr Sylvester Nuomah Daddieh out of office, because his tenure of office has elapsed.
He said their action could breech the peace of the area, adding that this required re-enforcement to beef up security in the town.
According to the District Police Commander, the Constituency Executives told the DISEC that since they belonged to the same party and natives of the area, they could not afford to resort to violence to press home their demand to remove the DCE from office.
Supt Dzineku said, DISEC therefore, took them by their word, and withdrew the police re-enforcement team.
The President relieved Mr Daddieh of his post as DCE for the area some few months ago, because his tenure of office had expired.
Mr Daddieh, however, claimed that he has not been officially notified of that, and could not leave office on social media announcement.
