An uncompleted four-storey building with sixteen apartments located at 7 Days, a suburb of Ofankor in the Ga-West Municipal in the Greater Accra Region, has been left un-attended to by successive governments for some years now.
According to information available to Today, the building was being constructed purposely to accommodate members of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) by the NDC government in 1999 but unfortunately lost power in the 2000 General Election.
And since that time, the facility has been left un-attended to, and the current Mahama administration seems to have no plans of giving the building a face-lift.
However, two of such buildings that could not be completed at that time had seen one being completed in 2004 by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to accommodate some service personnel in the Ghana Police Service (GPS.)
On a recent visit to the area Today discovered that the uncompleted Army bungalow though overgrown by weeds has also become a haven for reptiles and other wild animals.
Today also gatherred that large acres of land acquired by government over the years, which could be used to provide decent homes for security personnel, had seen greater portions of them sold to individuals.
This situation has compelled a lot of security personnel to rent accommodation at cut throat rents.
Meanwhile the 2010 and 2011 performance Audit Report of the Auditor-General on the Management of the Ghana Police Service Resident Accommodation indicates that the Ghana Police Service had a large number of uncompleted and abandoned building projects started in 1999.
