About 52 beneficiaries of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) have called for the immediate arrest of the Yendi Municipal Coordinator, Salifu Oldman, over unpaid allowances for over two and half years.
According to them, the Yendi NYEP Coordinator, Salifu Oldman, is deliberately diverting their allowances for his personal gains.
Ahmed Hardi, Spokesperson for the aggrieved NYEP beneficiaries in an interview with Citi FM explained, "The health extension workers, we are about 300 of us and 52 of us have not been paid our allowances since we were recruited."
He said even those who have been paid realized some deductions from their allowances without any explanations.
"Some people were supposed to collect GHC140 cedis and he deducted GHC15 cedis from each of them and those who were to collect GHC120 cedis again realized GHC5 cedis deductions from their allowances."
Ahmed Hardi said they have since reported the matter to the BNI and the appropriate agencies to deal with the Coordinator.
Meanwhile, Salifu Oldman, the Yendi NYEP Coordinator has denied the allegation, saying "I am not aware of what they are saying, it is not true."
He however admitted that there have been challenges managing the NYEP in the Yendi Municipality.
