Kuuirenure Bayuo, a native of Donwini in the Lawra District, was among five people who allegedly spearheaded a mob that burnt a vehicle and took away 15 goats and sheep on board the vehicle.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Wa on Thursday, the Upper West Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Daniel Dorkpoh, said the vehicle developed a problem at Donwini on its way to Jirapa at 1500 hrs on November 14, last year.

The inhabitants of the village, who mistook the driver and his passengers for thieves, charged on them with clubs and cutlasses but they escaped into the bush where they hid and allegedly saw the deceased and others pour kerosene on the vehicle and set it ablaze.

The police PRO said they took the goats to the Lawra Police Station and reported that they intercepted the animals from thieves. Later, the driver of the vehicle, Kwesi Latif, and one Abass Muntari were arrested and charged but when they appeared in court none of the complainants showed up to give evidence against the accused persons.
