Obenimase (Ash), June 20, GNA - The Asante-Akim Rural Bank with its head quarters at Juansa has spent 136 million cedis in donations to a number of school in communities in its catchments area to undertake development projects.
Mr Kyei-Baffour, Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Bank announced this at Obenimase when the bank presented items and cash to institutions in both Asante-Akim South and North districts. The items included 30 bags of cement for the Domeabra Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Primary School, a set of jersey for the Obenimase Methodist Primary School, and two million cedis cash for the Merso Presbyterian Primary School.
Mr Kyei-Baffour said the Bank repaired a broken down vehicle for the Konongo Police at the cost of two million cedis to ensure adequate security to the public.
He also announced that the Bank had offered scholarships to 18 needy but brilliant students in second cycle and tertiary institutions and had also built a block of three classrooms, office, store, kitchen and toilet facilities as an Early Childhood Development Centre for the Juanso community.
Mr Francis Appiadu, a member of the Board of Directors urged the people to cultivate the habit of saving with the bank to ensure that their monies would be safe and readily available.
He appealed to traders and farmers to form co-operative groups to enable them to enjoy some of the available micro financing facilities. Mr Oppong Bediako, District Director of Education for Asante-Akim North, entreated parents to take their children's education seriously, because that was the best investment they could make to enable them to enjoy the fruits of their labour during their old age.
