The Asante Akim South District Assembly has donated a 10,000 litre Polytank and 15 laptops to the Bompata Senior High School.
The gesture is to improve the water situation in the school as well as boost Information Communication Technology (ICT) education in line with government’s vision.
Mr De-graft Forkuo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), who presented the items, said sustainable water supply to the school was crucial to the sound academic work of students in the school.
He said the assembly was committed to resolving some of the challenges facing schools in the district, adding that, it was embarking on a number of infrastructural projects to raise the standard of education in the district.
The DCE noted that the attainment of quality education required massive investment in both infrastructure and human resource development; saying, that is why the government would not renege on its promise to invest in the education sector.
Mr Forkuo said government’s one laptop per child programme is a resolve to make computers accessible to pupils and give meaning to the teaching of ICT in schools.
He advised students to take advantage of the initiative to equip themselves with computer skills, to make the huge investment worthwhile.
Mr Yaw Adu-Gyamfi Sarpong, Headmaster of the school, commended the assembly for the gesture and said the donation was timely and appreciable.
He said the donation would go a long way to enhance academic work and appealed to other organizations to emulate the laudable gesture.**
