The Asante-Mampong Police has vowed to make life uncomfortable for hard drugs users in the area as it stepped up raids on their hideouts.

Chief Superintendent Solomon Ntim, the Divisional Commander, said they were determined to do everything to check the drug menace to improve security.

He noted that there was a strong link between hard drugs, robberies and other violent crimes.

He was speaking after a swoop on some ghettos at Mampong-Tadiem, notorious for cannabis smoking and cocaine sniffing.

In all, 14 suspects including three students were arrested.

They included Richard Akawule, farmer, Kwadwo Baffour Awuah, unemployed, George Ofori, trader, Obin Iddi, trader, Danso Nsor, Alex Sarpong, and Isha Zakan, all students.

Others were Michael Afedzi, Hagan Acquah, both masons, Kofi Alhassan, labourer, Patrick Afrifa, farmer, and Prince Yeboah, mason.

The Police seized from them substances in wrap and foils suspected to be cannabis and cocaine.

The Divisional Commander said they had already been put before court and remanded into Police custody to enable them continue with their investigations.

He warned that the raids would continue.

He reminded parents about the need to do more to help protect their children from bad peer influences, and added that the youth should not be denied parental care and guidance because of economic pressures.
