Mampong (Ash), Nov 2, GNA - The Electoral Commission (EC) has increased electoral areas in the Asante-Mampong Municipality from 27 to 33. Bosofour, Bosomkyekye, Adidwan Sataso, Zongo East, Daaho and Aboantem are the new ones created.
Mr Francis Addai-Nimoh, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante-Mampong, was addressing the last ordinary meeting of the Municipal Assembly, which has served out its full four-year term. He asked assembly members to continue to focus on achieving socio-economic progress for the people.
He said the government has secured $23 million mixed credit facility from the United States (US) Exim Bank for rehabilitation and expansion of the Asante-Mampong Water System to solve the problems associated with access of water in the municipality. Mr Addai-Nimoh said hospitals and health centres in the area would soon be refurbished.
There are also plans towards the naming of streets and link roads in the Mampong town. He told the meeting that he had distributed 100 bags of cement to some communities in support of self-help projects.
Mr Daniel Apau Hyiamang, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), gave the assurance that the assembly would see to the timely completion of projects it has initiated.
He commended the out-going assembly members for their contribution to the development of the various communities.
