Kumasi, Feb 10, GNA - Mr Sam Okudjeto, President of the Bible Society of Ghana, has commended Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, for his prudent leadership of the Asante Kingdom.

He suggested the reading and application of the principle of the "Good Book" to be the King's daily practice for unparallel wisdom and successful leadership.

Mr Okudjeto, who is also a former President of the Ghana Bar Association, said this when he led a delegation of members of the society to pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene at his Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Wednesday.

The purpose of the visit was to formally inform the Asantehene about the celebration of the Bible Week in Kumasi as part of activities marking the 40th anniversary of the society. Mr Okudjeto said great kings who led great empires in the past are now wise legends because they used the Bible.

The delegation, which included Dr Kwaku Twum-Baah, former Government Statistician and Professor Irene Odotei, Vice-President of Bible Society Africa, presented a large pulpit Bible in Asante Twi to the Otumfuo and a box of Asante Twi Bibles for distribution to his chiefs.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu thanked the society for the gesture and said it is only the practice of God's word in the Bible that could make mankind live in peace and harmony.
