Ahenema-Kokoben (Ash), Sept 20, GNA- Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has resolved a chieftaincy and land dispute that had plagued the Ahenema-Kokoben community near Kumasi for the past 20 years. The resolution of the dispute followed the declaration by the Asantehene on September 7, at Manhyia Palace that Opanin Yaw Berko was the recognised Odikro of Ahenema-Kokoben with a responsibility to the Asantehemaa.
The lands at Ahenema-Kokoben are by custom under the control and authority of the Asantehemaa and had Opanin Berko as the caretaker of the lands.
The dispute was between one Nana Apau Ababio who claimed to be Odikro of the town and Opanin Berko, the caretaker of the lands. The amicable resolution of the impasse was announced by Opanin Berko at a news conference at Ahenema-Kokoben on Monday. Opanin Berko commended the Asantehene for his fatherly affection and concern for peace in the community as demonstrated in his intervention.
He appealed to those factions who litigated against him and his group to bury their differences and eschew any bitterness and co-operate with him.
