New Edubiase (Ash), Feb 18, GNA- Mr Adansi Gyimah, assembly member for Apagya near New Edubiase in Ashanti, has appealed to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, to as matter of urgency intervene in chieftaincy disputes in the Adansi State.

The assembly member said, Dompoase, Akrokerri, Akrofuom, Bodwesango and Ayaase among others in Adansi were without substantive chiefs for years due to disagreement over rightful occupants of stools of the towns, impeding development in the various communities. Mr Gyimah hoped that the Asantehene with his rich wisdom and fairness in the settlement of chieftaincy disputes, will expedite action in settling all the disputes to ensure that all communities in Adansi get rightful chiefs. The assembly member noted that education formed the foundation for progress and urged parents to ensure that their children studied at home instead of spending their time at video centres and other entertainment spots.

Mr Gyimah said even though government had initiated programmes such as the Capitation Grant and School Feeding Programme, parents were obliged to provide their children with basic educational needs instead of spending lavishly on funerals and at social functions. Mr Gyimah appealed to government to extend the School Feeding programme to all deprived communities in the area for the retention of children in school and said only children in Kojo Yentumi were enjoying the package.
