Mr Pascal Osei Twumasi, Ashanti Regional Director of Department of Social Welfare, who received the items, thanked the women for the package, which he said had come at the time its needed most. He said it was very unfortunate that some women did not have sympathy for children, to the extent that some even throw their own children away of maltreat them at home.

Mr Twumasi said some men shirk their responsibilities, leading to delinquency in children as well as broken homes among others. He told the women to be bold and report all such cases to either the Department of Social Welfare or the Domestic Violence and Victims' Supporting Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service for redress, when they feel cheated.
