Asawasi MP inaugurates committee to improve Education in constituency

Kumasi, March 28, GNA - Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, Minister of Youth and Sports and Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawasi, has inaugurated a nine-member committee to oversee the development of education in the constituency. The committee will among others collaborate with stakeholders to identify peculiar challenges facing education development in the area and recommend ways to address them. Dr Mohammed Abdul Kabir, defeated NPP parliamentary candidate for Asawasi in the 2008 election and Mr Nicholas Gyebi, Officer in-charge of Asawasi sub-metro education directorate are members of the committee. Inaugurating it, the Minister reiterated his resolve to work to promote education in the constituency and pledged GH¢25,000 from his share of the Common Fund towards this goal. This would be in the form of education scholarship to needy pupils and students, he said, adding that, he would also give Arabic graduates scholarships to receive secular education. In addition, he would help to provide schools with dual desks and building materials to refurbish dilapidated classroom blocks. Alhaji Mubarak asked the committee to exercise diligence and total commitment to the task.
