Tema, May 31, GNA - The campaign for the Ashaiman parliamentary seat gets tougher as an active member of the Ashaiman branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr Samuel Kwame Amable, has declared his intention to join the race as an independent candidate.
Mr Amable, a private Administrator/Finance Officer would be contesting the December elections with the winner of three NPP candidates Mr Eric Kwatia, Mr Emmanuel K. K. Teye, the sitting MP and Mr Djamah who have filed their nominations for the primaries, while Mr Alfred Agbesi is also contesting on the ticket of the National Democratic Party (NDC).
In a statement issued to the Ghana News Agency on Monday, Mr Amable explained that he was championing a course "which is my civic and constitutional responsibility as a citizen of Ghana."
He, however, expressed regret that the national executive of the NPP withdrew his mandate as a parliamentary candidate without justification even after contesting and winning the 2000 primaries, which was conducted by the Electoral Commission.
In view of that, "in consultation with some opinion leaders, my organisers and a cross section of the people across the political divide in Ashaiman I have decided to go solo," he added.
