Ashaiman youth forms association to carry out productive activities

Ashaiman, June 28, GNA - The youth of Ashaiman, have formed various associations, to undertake productive ventures that would facilitate their personal development and that of the community.

Fifty of such associations, have been formed, to engage members in activities like clean-up exercises and blood donations to blood banks. The Everlasting Welfare Association, at the weekend, undertook a clean-up exercise at the Tema General Hospital and donated 25 units of blood to the Hospital's blood bank.

Later at a public forum, Mr Robert Afful, Assistant Secretary of the Association, said members are sponsoring the education of two, brilliant but needy students.

He said members are also granted loans to embark on income generating activities to help discourage them from anti-social activities.

Mr Eric Kwatia, Special Assistant to the Minister for the Regional Co-operation and NEPAD, commended the members for their communal spirit and tasked them to carry out public campaigns on the need for environmental cleanliness.

Mr Prince Mohammed, President of Ashaiman Youth Coalition ,expressed the determination of the Coalition, to ensure that criminals are weeded out of the town.

The forum focussed on the need to rid the town of criminals.
