Asiakwa Salvation wins "Mmfro Afahye" competition

Asiakwa (E/R), May 23, GNA- The Asiakwa Salvation Junior Secondary School (JSS) has been crowned champions of the Akyem Abuakawa Nifa Division celebration of the "Okyehene Mmfra Afahye" with the top prize of two computers and their accessories.

Asiakwa JSS shrugged off a challenge from Anyinasi JSS that eventually annexed the cultural dance segment of the competition with a tally of 32 points after five rounds of competition in poetry recitals, quizzes, athletics and other outdoor games. Anyinasi emerged second with 16 points while Nsutam came third with 15 points.

A prelude to the main "Okyenhene Mmofra Afahye", which is expected to be celebrated from October 7-9, the festival among others is aimed at unearthing talents through entertainment.

Instituted last year by Osagyefuo Amotia Ofori Panin, the Okyenhene, the festival is also aimed at cultural development and awareness, sports development and educational achievement. The grand finale would be a battle of winners representing the five divisional areas that make up the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area and will be celebrated under theme "Building Our Future" Osabarima Agyeman III, Nifahene of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, presented the computers to the winners with other schools receiving consolation prizes.

The other divisions - Benkum, Oseawuo and Gyase - are expected to celebrate theirs on June 18, July 16 and August 20.
