Asikasu No.2 community undertakes self-help electrification project

Asikasu Number Two (B/A), Aug. 13, GNA- The people of Asikasu Number Two in Dormaa Traditional Area of Brong Ahafo have embarked on construction of a palace for the chief and an electrification project estimated at more than 70 million cedis.

The people are funding the projects through contributions and support from other sources.

Nana Baffour Twum, Chief of the town, said this at a durbar on Tuesday to mark the 20th anniversary of his enstoolment. He said his reign had been highly successful due to the unity and co-operation of the people.

Nana Twum said with the drilling of boreholes in the town, guinea worm, which was endemic had been eradicated. He expressed gratitude and appreciation to World Vision International (WVI), a relief non-governmental organisation, which funded the projects.

The Chief lauded the communal spirit of the people towards the development of the town and urged them to sustain the spirit. Mr Joseph Osei Tweneboah, Assembly Member for Broniasua Electoral Area at Dormaa-Ahenkro appealed to non-resident citizens of the town to come home regularly to support development programmes for the town. He advised them to forge ahead in unity and co-operate at all times and avoid divisive tendencies, which hamper development.
