Asokore Chief promises large tract of land for youth employment

Asokore (Ash), Nov. 16, GNA - Nana (Dr) Susubiribi Krobea Asante, Omanhene (Paramount) of Asokore Traditional Area, has expressed commitment to release large tracts of land to the youth for farming.

This, he said, was to compliment government's efforts at bringing down the high unemployment rate among the youth.

Nana Dr Krobea Asante was addressing his sub-Chiefs and elders during the celebration of the annual Akwasidae festival at Asokore.

He called on the youth to take advantage of loans from the Millennium Development Authority channelled through the Asokore Rural Bank in support of farmers.

He counselled the loan beneficiaries to use the money to increase agricultural production and raise their income levels.

This way, they would help to make farming more attractive to the young men and women and curb the rural -urban drift.

Nana Dr Krobea Asante promised to see to the reactivation of a gari-processing plant owned by the community.

He also touched on sanitation and advised the people to keep their surroundings clean in order to avoid malaria and other diseases.

Mr Kwadwo Addai, District Chief Executive said the assembly would ensure smooth operation of the School Feeding Programme, whilst the improvement of the Asokore town roads, started by the previous administration would soon be completed.
