Kumasi, Oct 8, GNA- The Asokwa Sub-Metropolitan Council plans to adopt more workable measures to ensure that all town councils and structures under the local government decentralisation programme within the council are fully operational.

Mr Matthew Tay, administrator of the council, said as part of the measures, councillors have been charged to look for premises to be rented as temporary offices for the 10 town councils. Mr Tay was addressing a meeting of councillors of the Asokwa sub-metro council in Kumasi on Wednesday to discuss problems militating against the smooth development of the area.

"Since we have a problem with staffing, we will in the interim make use of the services of national service personnel at the 10 town councils until such time that we are permitted to recruit permanent staff to man the councils", he said. Mr Edward Akuamoah-Boateng, chairman of the council, advised councillors to be regular at council and sub-committee meetings to enable them to make inputs at council meetings.
