assaults NPP youth organization; case goes to police
The Goliath - looking New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for the Nkoranza North constituency, Mr. Prince Kwame Fosu-Adjei has brutally assaulted the party's Constituency Youth Organizer, Mr. Kofi Poku for purportedly exposing his secrets and blackmailing him before the electorate.
The Chronicle's sources close to the party constituency secretariat have disclosed that, the MP aspirant subjected the youth organizer to three 'strong continued slaps' in his face, which landed him on the ground.
Mr. Fosu-Adjei, who apparently wanted to send the organizer to his grave, according to the source, had held Kofi Poku tightly to the ground by the neck for sometime and stepped on his chest with his shoes.
Afterwards, the source noted, one of the comrades of the aspirant also held him to the ground and pummelled him until he sustained cuts in the face before people could intervene.
The paper was told further that, Mr. Fosu-Adjei had never liked the youth organiser; ever since he had identified that he was a potential campaign team member for his opponent, Mr. Eric Amoateng.
The Chronicle garnered that, Kofi Poku was on his way to feed his grass-cutters when he met the aspirant who suddenly accused him of collaborating with the opponent to tarnish his image before the electorate.
He arrogantly therefore assaulted him and ordered one of his men to continue the beatings.
This atrocious incident, the source said, caused the organizer serious disgrace and humiliation, due to the large number of people who had come to the ground and met him squirming in blood.
He eventually reported the incident to the Nkoranza District police and sought treatment at the St. Theresa's Hospital, Nkoranza.
The Police are therefore conducting thorough investigations into the matter for appropriate sanctions.
Meanwhile, the Nkoranza North constituency parliamentary seat is on heat as three strong members of the party struggle to climb it.
The winner out of these three contestants; Mr. Eric Amoateng, Prince Kwame Fosu-Adjei and Edmund Kwaku Baffoe, would, after the primaries, challenge the incumbent NDC MP, Mr. Hayford Francis Amoako.
The MP aspirant, in a telephone interview with The Chronicle, admitted the incident without any fear or regret.
"Assaults, intimidations and harassments among other incidents happen in every home or family, so if two brothers fight, it is no news for the media to politicise this," he said.
The aspirant noted that, he and the Nkoranza District Chief Executive had apologised to, and compensated, the Youth Organiser, but was reluctant to disclose the nature of the compensation.
