Aspiring MP gives to V/R GJA

Ho, June 21, GNA - Mr Rockson Deafeamekpor, an aspiring National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate for South Dayi, has presented 10 plastic chairs to the Volta Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).

Mr Deafeamekpor also promised to give a table top fridge and some modems to the Secretariat.

He said he read about the inauguration of the Secretariat and decided to help furnish it so it could become a resource centre for media practitioners in the Region.

"I saw the beginning of the vibrancy of the media and I know the difficulties you people go through travelling the length and breadth of the Region to cover events and as a public spirited person, I will like to support the media do its work efficiently," Mr Deafeamekpor said.

Mr Anthony Bells Kafui Kanyi, Volta Regional GJA Secretary, expressed gratitude to Mr Deafeamekpor for the donation and appealed to other benevolent individuals and institutions to support the Association.

He said the Secretariat needed computers and internet connectivity so that practitioners could transmit their stories with speed at the Secretariat instead of going to the Internet Cafes. The Volta Regional Coordinating Council, Ho Municipal Assembly, Mr Emmanuel Bedzrah, Member of Parliament for Ho-West and some private enterprises in Ho had given material support to the Secretariat.
