Ada Foa, March 30, GNA - The construction of six-classroom unit golden jubilee block, a kindergaten and a park is underway at Sege, Masseh and Ada Foah in Dangme East District of the Greater Accra Region.
This was contained in a speech read by the Dangme East District Chief Executive Mr. Israel Narh Baako at a forum organized for chiefs, opinion leaders of Ada to discuss the role of chiefs in development to commemorate Ghana's Golden Jubilee anniversary.
The DCE said one primary school and a kindergarten would be constructed at Sege , and a football park at Ada Foah would be renovated as a ceremonial ground for national functions in the District. Mr. Baako highlighted some achievement of the Dangme East District Assembly in recent times, such as the construction of three sheds at Kasseh market, the rehabilitation of junior staff quarters at Ada Foah and lorry parks at Kasseh and Ada Foah.
He touched on road the construction road networks for Toslokpo, Alongokpo, Adodoadzekorpe and Ameyaokorpe-Sofahukorpe Mr Baako said one major problem facing the assembly is land litigation between the divisional clans hence huge compensation being demand by land owners.
He said chieftaincy disputes have become rampant in the Ada area these thereby leading to assault on government officials undertaking development projects in certain communities.
Another problem is the devastating sea erosion at Ada which was scaring potential investors away and undermining local revenue mobilisation.
Mr. Baako mentioned some investment potentials in the District as the Volta River and the Estuary, the numerous beautiful islands, the Songhor lagoon among others like cheap labour and existing utilities services like water, power and communication network. Mr. Baako thanked the paramount chief of Ada, Dzetse Mene Abram Kabu Akuaku III for sensitizing the people on revenue mobilization. In an address by Dzetse Mene Kabu Akuaku he said development could not be pursued without the involvement of traditional authorities, because it is the chiefs who own the land on which developmental projects would be located He said irrigation farming and salt production were areas that could bring development to the area if properly exploited. According to him salt production at Ada is heavily control by chiefs without unity hence the maximum benefit of salt production at Ada. Some of the senior divisional chief who were present at the forum were the head of Dangmebiawer clan Mene Osabutey Lanuer Okumo, Asafoatse Tsatsu Perdiator of Kudrogbe clan, Asafoatse Sackey Keteni of Ohuewemi divisional clan.
