A two-unit kindergarten classroom built from the Bawku West District Development Funds at the cost of 74,342.75 Ghana Cedis, has been handed over to the District Directorate of Education by the District Assembly.
Mr Simon Agbango Anyane, Bawku West District Chief Executive, said the Assembly’s role in ensuring that quality teaching and learning was enhanced at the community level, cannot be over emphasized, and therefore, education at the kindergarten level, formed the basis of human resource development in the district.
“It is with this motive that the District Assembly heard the concerns of the community and came to help, in order to avoid lapses in providing education for our children” the DCE added.
He urged the School Management Committee (SMC), the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and the community, to collaborate to ensure children in the area benefit from the school.
He congratulated the Member of Parliament for the area for the role he played in bringing projects to the area, more especially social amenities such as schools, drinking water and roads.
Mrs Patricia Ayeko, District Director of Education, thanked the Assembly for the support, more especially to the community where children could not attend school due to the distance from their areas to the nearest school in town.
She urged the Assembly to help expand the school to give more space to serve as playground for the children.
Mrs Ayeko appealed to philanthropists, and well-meaning residents of the area, to support the school with education and entertainment equipment.
Mr. Richard Osei Amanfu, consultant to the project, during an inspection of the school, urged the contractor, Mr Abdul Bassit, to strengthen door locks and windows.
